Walk and Talk for Career Success – Mentor Walks x WISE
Come join us on Friday 20 April from 745-9am in our collaboration event with Mentor Walks where we pair you with a mentor so you can go on a casual “Walk and Talk for Career Success” around Central Harbourfront. It’s a great way to kick-start the morning and to meet mentors and other mentees from various walks of life in Hong Kong. We’ve invited some our past panelists and interviewees, as well as general supporters and advisors to be mentors! If you’re interested to see who’s joining us as a mentor, follow this Facebook page where we will posting mentor profiles. We will also be supporting the Exchange and Empower program, a collaboration between Hong Kong Trail Running Women and legendary trail runner and feminist Mira Rai. The program aims to provide talented young female runners in Nepal the opportunity to broaden their horizons, experience different lifestyles, and share their stories and culture with others. As part of this program, they are supporting 6 young female Nepali runners for 12 months (March 2018 to Feb 2019), giving them the opportunity to focus on athletic training, education and professional development. The cost for this is US$25000. You can donate here too. Meeting point is at Central Ferry Piers, near the Ferris Wheel. Mentees must have purchased a ticket via Eventbrite to participate. Contact us: wisewomenhk@gmail.com for questions. ABOUT MENTOR WALKS HONG KONG Mentor Walks connects emerging female leaders with a range of senior women from a diverse professional community. As mentors and mentees walk and talk, they discuss their challenges, successes, aspirations, and lessons learned. Bringing mentorship into the fresh air, each walk is a one-hour window for mentors and mentees to connect and discuss personal and professional challenges and long-term goals. Mentees registering for the event should be working professional women and while many are mid-career, there is no age limit on participation. Mentees and Mentors will be matched on the day. Mentors speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin and many more! WHO ARE THE MENTORS AND MENTEES? A typical Mentor Walk gathers around 10-20 Mentors and 30-40 Mentees, aiming to keep a ratio of 2-3 Mentees for each Mentor. Mentors and Mentees join us from a variety of public and private sector background including, but not limited to, international relations and development, law, finance, marketing, media and public relations, academia, entrepreneurship, hospitality, healthcare, and energy. Mentors: Whether there are senior executives, thought leaders, or business owners, Mentors are trailblazers in their fields and have broken glass ceilings to achieve their success, whether in China or abroad. Mentors can be involved in the series as a one-time commitment or as a regular participant and there is no obligation for them to share their contact information outside of the event. Recognising unexpected cancellations may occur, Mentor names are not disclosed in advance of each Mentor Walk. Mentees: Mentees are typically young professionals, middle managers, or executives who are starting their careers, experiencing career transitions, or looking for inspiration as they launch new ventures. While Mentees must have already launched their professional careers in order to participate in the series, there is no age limit on who can participate as a Mentee.
